Project Description

Wandering Warriors

You may have heard ‘Who Dares Wins’. Well, that’s the motto of Special Air Service Regiment (SASR). The selection course these guys have to go through is intense, to say the least. The SASR now operate under Special Operations Command. Their history traces back to the Australian Z Special Unit and Independent Commando Companies that fought during World War II. In 1964, 1st Special Air Service Company was expanded to become the Special Air Service Regiment.

Wandering Warriors is a fundraising initiative of the SASR. Born out of a discussion between two Vietnam era veterans. They wanted to reach out and help other SASR veterans and their families.

Logo Design

That’s an amazing amount of history right there! So where do you even begin to design a logo that’s for one of the most highly respected units in the Australian Defence Force? Obviously, we needed to use the SASR badge. After a few more discussions it was decided we needed to represent the whole of Australia and use the Wandering Warriors wording and tagline to make sure it didn’t get confused with the active SASR.

Web Design

Wandering Warriors has been the most comprehensive website I have had the pleasure of building. There are so many elements to it. As a charity, they needed to capture donations, sell merchandise and inform sponsors, supporters as well as veterans. The main aim was to allow anyone viewing their site to know exactly what they are about. The hero image begins the story. The site had to be super responsive and easy to read and navigate.

Behind the scenes are secure payment gateways for both donations and purchasing merchandise. The employment page is updated weekly. New events or stories are added regularly.  The site is managed and maintained by myself.

Online shop

The shop opened in 2015 and was another avenue stream to raise funds for Wandering Warriors. The store was stocked by a collection of long-term supporters. Almost everything was designed by me! Photographed and uploaded into the store. I continue to maintain the site as part of my commitment to Wandering Warriors. The shop is easy to use, update, remove or add products. I’m able to supply reports, update SEO and tweak almost anything I like. Super responsive and linked in to also be able to sell items on social media channels.

Marketing Collateral

Where to start!? At the beginning is a good place! Many designs have been done over the years. Starting with business cards and letterheads. Onto corporate folders, flyers and folded brochures. There is even a Wandering Warriors coin! I design and sent to print. I have a series of trade printers I use that deliver amazing results. Print management is a large part of my branding process. I work closely to ensure all colours are correct, images are clear and everything is delivered on-time.

Wandering Warriors Merchandise trailer

Wandering Warriors have their own merchandise trailer. Guess who got to design it and wrap it….yep that was me! I did have the help of my hubby and CEO at the time, Audie Moldre and his amazing wife Glad. The trailer was an old Dare Iced coffee trailer. Before it could be wrapped we had to strip it. It took the best part of a day with all of us working on it. We did it! A real team effort. I’m positive Audie never wants to see another sicker in his life!

The trailer is just one of many signs designed and manufactured for Wandering Warriors. Other signage consists of:

  • Banners
  • A-frames
  • Vehicle wraps
  • Pop up banners
  • Custom build event signage
  • Flags and more

Merchandise is one avenue for fundraising for Wandering Warriors. Their online shop is full of cools stuff. Majority of it designed by me! We are currently looking into a new range, should be super exciting. Not much more I can say about that at the moment. I work closely with all the suppliers. Most being right here in Brisbane.

Event Branding

Wandering Warriors and Misfit Branding

On May 2018, Wandering Warriors staged a commemorative event – a stretcher carry challenge – along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. This off-road challenge took between 5.45 and 8 hours to complete and began and ended in the township of Fernvale, about 50 minutes drive from the Brisbane CBD. The stretcher carry is the ultimate team event, as the task demands teamwork to be completed quickly and efficiently. Add 50 kilograms of weight and fast-walk or jog with the stretcher over a 42-kilometre course and you will know you’ve done a good day’s work!

The branding started for the event with the Tribute logo. It needed to reflect the era in which the event was honouring. Poppy’s and barbed wire to reflect the era and honour remembrance traditions.  Once the logo was developed everything else fell into place. Items designed for participants consisted of sublimated shirts, embroidered caps, custom designed and made medallions, certificates, signage and all social media posts.

What my clients say

designed by Misfit Branding

Loved working with Tracey for the design and installation for our vehicle signage. We had an idea and a budget, and she made it happen!
It was such a quick process from start to finish and the product was delivered exactly as ordered. We strongly recommend her work and will definitely use her in the future.

Tracey Morrell, Time to Move Removals

Tracey is fantastic to work with. I have tried a few people in my hometown of Darwin to no joy. I have found Tracey to be very professional and no bullshit straight up front. With Tracey’s ideas my business has started to show improvements. And at the end of the day that is what counts. I could not recommend Tracey any higher.

Craig Curby, Curby's NT

It was an absolute pleasure working with Tracey to create a book cover. The production process was painless; Tracey was communicative, creative, and the end result was beautiful. A real talent.
